Feel good Friday 👍🏻
We made it! It’s Friday…anyone else feeling good? It’s been a great weeks coaching and personal training clients. Also from a personal perspective, my own training has started a new 12 week block and I’m excited to see where the next 12 weeks takes me.
I’ve chopped and changed my own programming for a few months now and I feel that I’ve found a good combination that works for me.
I squat, bench, deadlift, clean and jerk & snatch all once a week. Then throw in a variety of leg and arm accessory work and 2-3 CrossFit WODs a week.
It works for me. I’ve learnt that for ME my body can’t cope with a huge amount of volume especially when it comes to squatting or deadlifting due to a long term knee injury (that feels the best it has done in a long long time - mainly due to the lower volume and leg accessory work I’ve focused on in the previous 12 week block). Last November, I also suffered with sciatic like symptoms in my right hip/hamstring. These symptoms have also eased off and I’m moving better than I have in a while. 😁
Remember, training should be personalised to you, your body, your lifestyle, your work and you hobbies.
What do you actually train for?
What are your goals?
How can I achieve these goals, moving well and remaining injury free?
For me these are the questions that mean the most.
Don’t get me wrong I want to continue to get stronger but I’m not pushing for PBs. If they come along the way it’s a bonus. As long as I’m enjoying my training, I feel strong, I’m moving well and I’m pain free, I’m happy.
If you’d like to chat about your training or would like a free consultation, then let me know. 👊🏻
Enjoy the weekend!
See you on Monday.
