5 Reasons to get regular Sports Massages during Marathon Season!

MARATHON SEASON IS HERE!

As March is just around the corner, marathon season approaches; with those longer runs and final training sessions soon to be taking place.

What We’re Up To

We are now offering a Marathon Training Sports Massage Pack for a limited time only. Now is the time to book in and make sure your recovery is on point! As those miles build up, so should your recovery. Are you eating the right foods? Are you drinking enough water? Are you getting in quality sleep?

Are you getting regular massages?

Benefits of a Sports Massage:

  1. Relieving tightness/tension – A sports massage will stretch and lengthen your muscles in a much deeper and possibly more specific way than when you stretch after your run.

  2. Improving blood flow – when blood flow to a particular area is increased and improved, healing can take place.

  3. Increasing flexibility – with increased flexibility your range of motion and the mobility in your joints will be improved. This could well then reduce the chance of an injury occurring or re-occurring.

  4. Breaking down scar tissue – Massage can be utilised to promote the healthy formation of scar tissue so that it forms in a natural, strong linear pattern. A build up of scar tissue can cause tightness and weakness in the muscles. Massage will help to realign scar tissue, promoting correct, strong scar formation in the muscle.

  5. Lymphatic drainage – this helps to reduce inflammation and swelling. It can also help with the removal of lactic acid and other waste products caused by slight tears or over use in the muscle.

During my marathon training last year, I got regular massages myself to aid my recovery and it was a life saver. It really helped prevent injuries and niggles and meant I got to the start line feeling fresh and ready for race day! Don't wait until its too late and those injuries set in. Get regular recovery sports massages throughout your training to ensure you are 100% throughout the final training period leading up to the big day. BOOK IN NOW AND GOOD LUCK!
